music histor-eee

Throughout the years, my music taste has gone out of wack, not really committing myself to an artist or even a genre.

But when I realized this link, I was kinda pissed.

A bit more than a decade ago during my 'tween' (i fuckin hate that word) years, I fell in love with this music video. It was the first time I realized what a vocoder was. Daft Punk's 'Around the World' was probably my first love when it comes to video art. Not even sure if I'm right(or that I even remember correctly), but i think the whole thing was meant to give a 'visual voice', so to say, to the song. Not just like any music video, but each element of 'Around the world' was actually a representation of an element used in the song, using additive and subtractive synthesis to represent this. Maybe I'll write my thesis paper on it...

Anyway,
Couple years down the line, purchased my second Daft Punk Album, Discovery.
Maybe you've heard of one of my favorite songs from it:

Catchy fuckin song. Harder Better Faster Stronger. The whole video is about androids or whatever becoming humans and erasing their old memories. But keep in mind the whole 'factory capsule thing' going on. Like at 00:28-00:30. Note those damn capsules.

YESTERDAY I SAW THIS:

damn you Kanye, maybe 50cent should have out sold you in records!

I was pissed. Maybe I have attachment issues but I was pissed. How could they do this to Daft Punk? Not only did they take the whole essence of their original song, but also notice the fuckin music video! At around 00:28 - 00:30 what do we see? Kanye in a motha fuckin Capsule. Yes. Not only was the song taken, but the idea behind the video as well. Well I hope Kanye became human after that.

Sad I was, started doing research to see if any other music i appreciated had been murdered (i'm sure by permission).

THEN I FOUND THIS!!!!!!!

Shock.

Little did we all know, Daft Punk stole the punch line to 'Harder better faster stronger' from a song called 'Cola Bottle Baby'.

I don't think I'm upset at Kanye anymore.
